Course Content for "F" Certificate Modules

The mission of the National Youth License and the State Youth Modules (F Certificate Modules)†is to provide the most current and advanced information on growth and development of the youth soccer player. The youth soccer player is defined as any child from pre-school through adolescence. The course takes the approach that the GAME WITHIN EACH CHILD is at the center of all belief, decisions, and actions taken by the child, coach, and organization. It is the ultimate goal of youth soccer development within the to unlock the game within the child to reach their full soccer potential.

Coaching youth players requires bringing the game to life in a childís world. The information and demonstrations will assist you with your coaching endeavors. This philosophy will allow youngsters to play, learn, grow, and enjoy soccer in a non-threatening environment. These four elements should be central to every decision and action taken by coaches and organizations devoted to youth soccer.

Duration

††††††††† The Youth modules are broken down into three separate age-specific classes of†5 hours each; U6-U8, U8-U10, and U10-U12.† Field and classroom work are both involved.

Classroom/Theory

†††††††††Philosophy of Coaching, Characteristics of Players, Team Administration, Risk Management, Care and Prevention of Injuries and Modified Laws of the Game.

Field/Practical

††††††††† Age Appropriate Field Activities and Progressions.

Examination

††††††††† There is no examination. Attendance of all†5 hours is mandatory.

Fee

††††††††$40 per candidate (Effective September 1, 2009) for coaches of VYSA teams
$55 per canidate for coaches of non VYSA teams

Site Coordinator Instructions for "F" Certificate Modules

Duration
The F Certificate Course is done in three separate age-specific modules of†5 hours each (U6 - U8,U8 - U10, and U10 - U12).† Attendance is mandatory to pass each module.

Examination
There is no examination.

Facilities
A classroom with blackboard is needed. A field and/or gymnasium will be needed for practical demonstrations and in case of inclement weather.

Players
Elementary School age players are needed for practical sessions.† Site Coordinator is to coordinate with the course Instructor regarding the number of players and time players are needed.

Applicants
The minimum number of candidates is 12. The maximum number of candidates is determined by the size of the facility. The number of candidates is set one week before the course begins.

Fees
Fees for candidates taking the F Certificate course are:

  • $40 per candidate†(Effective September 1, 2009)†for coaches of VYSA teams
  • $55 per candidate for coaches of non VYSA teams
The site coordinator is responsible for the accuracy of each candidateís registration form. The site coordinator is also responsible for collecting fees for all candidates.

Payment for the course should accompany the course paperwork. Checks should be made payable to your club or league; the club or league should then issue one check for the amount due for the course made payable to VYSA.

Registration
Each candidate must complete a registration form. Please make sure all information has been included and that the information is legible. It is the site coordinatorís responsibility to keep attendance.

The site coordinator should turn all registration forms over to the course instructor after the completion of the course. The instructor will indicate whether each candidate passed or failed the course and sign each form.† Either the site coordinator or instructor must return all materials (registration forms, payment, course final report, and unused books) to the VYSA State Office within 7 days of completion of the course.

Post-Course Action
Follow up with the instructor to see that all paperwork and payments have been sent to the VYSA State Office within 7 days of the completion of the course.

General
Applicants should bring a soccer ball; training suit, sweat suit, or any form of action clothing; gym shoes; soccer cleats; and writing materials.

It is important that you establish a communication†plan in the event of inclement weather.

Course certificates will be sent† by the†VYSA State Office directly to the student coaches successfully completing the course . Prompt submission of the completed, signed registration forms and payment of any amounts due is, therefore, imperative.

The Site Coordinator is permitted to attend this course at no charge.
