US YOUTH SOCCER NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES VYSA BOYS AND GIRLSSTATECUP COMPETITION
The Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) will sponsor competition this Fall to determine the VYSA State Champions and representatives eligible to compete in Cup competition above the State level (Summer 2009) for the following age groups.
U18 August 1, 1990 and younger State, Regional and National Competition U17 August 1, 1991 and younger State, Regional and National Competition U16 August 1, 1992 and younger State, Regional and National Competition U15 August 1, 1993 and younger State, Regional and National Competition
Eligibility: Any team of a member of VYSA and participating in a recognized league and properly registered (having an official VYSA roster and US Youth Soccer player passes), is eligible to enter any one age group corresponding to the age of the oldest player on its roster.
All players must have been registered on the official VYSA State Cup roster for 48 hours prior to the first State Cup game played in any age group for the Fall Cup Competition. The first Cup games will be held on September 13, 2008, so 12:01 AM September 11, 2008 will be the one freeze date for all rosters in the Fall competition.
If a player is registered on a VYSA State Cup team 48 hours prior to the first State Cup game, the player may not compete in another State Cup for any other team during the seasonal year (Sept. 1 to Aug. 31). A team may have no more than five transferred players on its VYSA State Cup roster. A team may compete in only one State Cup competition during a seasonal year. Teams entered in State Cup must present a State Cup Roster. Please refer to the State Cup Rules and Procedures or contact your registrar.
Rules of the Competition: The Virginia State Championship Policies are on the VYSA Web Site. It is the responsibility of the team to access these rules and become familiar with them. The National Championship Series Policies will also apply. These policies may be modified by the VYSA State Championship Policies.
Application Fees and Procedures: The fee for entry to State Cup competition is $290.00. The following items must be in the VYSA State Office by the appropriate deadline: (1) a completed on-line application form and on-line credit card payment at the time of application (2) a copy of your approved 2008-2009 VYSA State Cup roster printed from the online Travel Team Registration site and stamped by the registrar; the roster may be faxed to the VYSA State Office by the deadline.
Entry Deadline: Completed applications include the application form filled out and paid by credit card on line and the VYSA State Cup stamped roster. The application form for entry (which includes the credit card payment) filled out on line and the VYSA State Cup stamped roster must be in the hands of the VYSA State Office no later than 4:00 pm on August 15, 2008. Any application that does not meet the deadline requirements will be returned.
It is always the responsibility of the coach of an applying team to confirm that his/her team has successfully met this deadline. Completed entries will be posted to the State Cup page on the VYSA website at the end of each day. Please check the website to confirm your team’s entry status.
The Draw, Location and Time: The Draw will be held September 3, 2008, at 7:30 pm at the VYSA State Office, 2239 D Tackett’s Mill Dr, Woodbridge 22192.
Seeding Process: We will seed the top eight teams in each age group. It is important that the information you provide is accurate and complete. The seeding committee will use the information on the applications to seed the teams. If you provide no information on the application we will assume that you do not think your team should be seeded.
Communication: In order to keep all teams up to date on game schedules, results and sometimes changes to fields and times, it is very important for each team to provide an e-mail address. During the competition the administrative information will be distributed by email. The game schedules and game results will be available on the VYSA Web Site.
VYSA has a Web Site for your convenience and information. All of the State Cup forms, the 2008-2009 Seasonal Year Cup Calendar and the VYSAStateCup Rules are available. Teams entered into State Cup are expected to be available on the planned game dates. VYSA will do its best to play the schedule as published. Religious holidays and PSAT testing will be taken into consideration. Also, inclement weather can interrupt any schedule. State Cup competition will proceed each weekend until competition is completed and any date may become a raindate.
Teams entered in the State Cup should read State Championship Policies. Teams must agree to abide by the rules and procedures prescribed for State Cup competition and understand their obligation to travel. Teams may not forfeit because of dissatisfaction with the Cup requirements and should understand any such forfeit or any refusal may preclude acceptance in future competition. Furthermore, failure to compete as scheduled will result in forfeiture of the entry fee and an additional fine will be imposed.
